Toronto Inferno Workshop Was Invaluable

I just returned from three days and two nights of intense photography discussion and education at the 2013 NoBS Inferno Workshop in Toronto and man, do I feel inspired!!  That’s all thanks to the lineup of brilliant speakers put together by the workshop coordinator, Rob Provencher of Westmount Photography here in Sudbury.

The presenters included the likes of:

Here is a group photo which was taken on the last day of the workshop and includes both William Foster and Argentina Leyva.

Super Full Moon Rising Over Sudbury

Last night I captured this series of images as the largest and brightest full moon (a supermoon) of 2012 rose over Health Sciences North (HSN) here in Sudbury, ON. Moonrise time was 2039 EDT and I was quite surprised just how quickly it rose into the night sky. It started off with a pinkish hue, then turned orange as it reflected the warm light of the setting sun, and then disappeared into the clouds with its usual white tones. Enjoy!

Last Night’s Full Moon

We had a magnificent looking full moon last night, and a clear sky to boot, so I decided to give my new 500mm lens a try. This is the result! It’s cropped somewhat, and the contrast was tweaked a bit in Lightroom and sharpened Photoshop. For those who care, this was shot with a Nikon D300 and Sigma 150-500m lens, zoomed all the way out to 500mm, ISO200, f22 and 1/30 sec. I’ve never really photographed the moon before, and I know this won’t be my last time! Enjoy!

If you would like to order a print of this image, please use Proofing link above and visit the Landscapes gallery. From there you can place your order electronically. Thanks.

P.S. I just learned from a Space.com article that February’s full moon is also known by different names, including the Snow Moon, Hunger Moon and Storm Moon. Didn’t know that! Kinda cool, don’t ya think?

Zumba Vibe Flash Mob

This past weekend I attended the Canadian Cancer Society’s kickoff of their 2012 Relay for Life campaign at the New Sudbury Center. To help with the lanch, the girls from Zumba Vibe lead a high energy flash mob of almost 100 women of all ages, for about 10 minutes… which attracted many onlookers in the mall’s center court. The slideshow below gives you a good idea of what went down there! Enjoy!
