June Print Competition

Posted in Competition on June 16th, 2009

This past weekend I attended our North Eastern Ontario Branch (NEOB) Professional Photographers of Ontario (PPO) meeting, workshop and print competition. The event was hosted at Pixatron on the Kingsway and the guest speaker was Arizona-based photographer, Kerry Allan, of Allan Studios. As well, we participated in a print competition in which the works of several of my colleagues were displayed and critiqued.

I am thrilled to report that the following three images of mine were scored as “Accepted”, which is a great start for me… next time out I’ll be aiming a little higher!

Tonight, my wife and I had the pleasure of spending a few hours with Kendra and Kris at the Anderson Farm Museum in Lively for their engagement session. The evening was a gorgeous one, considering how the day started. We captured many great images tonight and here are just a few…

Last night I had the privilege of attending my nephew (and Godson)’s high school graduation. Zak is graduating from St. Benedict’s Catholic Secondary School and has aspirations of being a world-renowned chef, working on some tropical island! Best of luck to you in the future, Zak!! May all your hopes and dreams come true!

Here are a few captures from last evening’s proceedings.

Posted in Seniors on May 31st, 2009

Last night we had a blast photographing the senior students of LoEllen Park Secondary School as they attended their 2009 Prom, decked out in gorgeous gowns and stylish tuxes. Here is a group shot of the crew taken outside the Helenic Center on the shore of St. Charles Lake in Sudbury’s south end.

Our Daughters’ 11th Birthday

Posted in Personal on May 19th, 2009

This past weekend we celebrated Angie and Gabby’s 11th birthday by having a group of their school friends for a sleepover birthday party. That busy 24 hour period of our long weekend was filled with activities such as swimming, eating, watching movies, playing the Wii and participating a tween glamour session photo shoot in our home studio. All the girls had a blast as far as I can tell and here are a couple of photos from then.

Our Norfolk Terrier Plays with a Spring Door Stop

Posted in Personal, Pets on April 27th, 2009

I know this isn’t really related to my photography business, but we found it to be so funny that we just had to share it with you. Cisco has recently discovered the spring door stop behind our bedroom door and has found it entertaining or aggravating, we can’t figure out which! Watch the video below and decide for yourself. Enjoy!

After dinner tonight I captured a few interesting images of some furry and feathered friends.  It seems to be wildlife week here in Minnow Lake this week!  Enjoy!

Amy & Nick’s Engagement

Posted in Engagements on April 20th, 2009

Last evening we photographed our first engagement session (or e-session as it is sometimes called) of the season.  Nick & Amy were real troopers as we walked around downtown Sudbury hitting several locations in the cool, spring air.  Here are just a couple of images from that session.

The Flight of the Common Grackle

Posted in Wildlife on April 18th, 2009

While I was outside barbecuing tonight’s supper on the back deck, I noticed some birds flying around the yard and decided to shoot them, the only way I know how… with a Nikon. grin I’ve seen these birds around a lot, but never knew what they were called until today… the Common Grackle.
